What to focus on in an AI world
A contrarian take

Welcome to The Revenue Generator
Hey there, it’s Harris!
Welcome to the Revenue Generator where I (usually) share 1 tactic each week that you can implement to help you generate more revenue.
AI is everywhere.
You can’t go anywhere on LinkedIn, X, etc. without someone talking about how AI has done XYZ for their business.
It’s exhausting and I think it’s taking a lot of the human out of our work.
I shared some thoughts on this today and how we’re thinking about being a bit contrarian in this space right now.
Let’s dive in.

Today’s Topic - What to focus on in an AI world
In a world that is becoming increasingly AI and automated, our team meeting last week was all about how to be human and do things that don't scale.
As soon as I see an automated AI message, I tune out.
When content looks like it was created with AI, I don't read it.
It's pretty easy right now (in my opinion) to AI/automate yourself out of a relationship.
The AI "wave" has only been happening for anywhere from 6 - 24 months but it's exhausting to most of us and there's a level of AI-ness that I think turns people way.
I want our team to become obsessed with building relationships with our clients and that comes from:
Sending texts/emails/slacks when you see something exciting happen for the client
Sending personalized gifts that relate to what the person cares about
Going to visit them in person
Connecting them to people in their network that requires a very specific human message
Not automating
I'm doubling down on that last piece.
I know AI is important to use and we would be naive to not use it in parts of our business, but there's something about human connection that will never go away and what we want to keep at the center of our partnerships.
Also, this podcast (albeit very long) was my favorite take on what we need to be afraid of in the world of AI.
The value of work is often in the process of doing the work rather than just the outcome.
AI gives us a pretty good outcome, but if we don’t do the work to get that outcome, we are losing a lot of what actually makes the outcome enjoyable.
Let me know if you’ve seen it and what you think.
