In almost every conversation I have with Executives and Sales Leaders, they talk about the terrible messages they get on LinkedIn.
And to me, this provides a unique opportunity.
If you do it right.
Most people immediately go to a sales pitch in the first message.
This has never worked and will never work.
Here’s what I recommend instead.
Today’s Topic - The type of message to send on LinkedIn
One of my sales trainers taught me this concept a decade ago and I still think about it every time I reach out.
“WIFM” - What’s in it for me?
What’s in it for the person you are reaching out.
Make it about them.
What do they care about?
Why should they take 30 minutes out of their day to talk with you?
It’s your job to provide value for them.
Most people try to immediately pitch them on their product/service and THIS DOES NOT WORK.
Provide so much value for that person that they ask what you do.
That’s the secret.
