Onboarding your new hires has never been so important.

Here's a 5-step process so your new hires show up ready to be productive on Day 1:

  1. Send a motivation survey (and store this where it is easily accessible) asking them:

    1. What brought you here?

    2. What will keep you here?

    3. What motivates you?

  2. Have a senior leader send a quick video welcoming them

  3. The manager should call to congratulate them

  4. Assign them a buddy/mentor

  5. Make it easy for new team members to reach out to them

There has been more and more chatter about a 4-day workweek as flexible work schedules continue to be discussed.

Recruiting talent these days requires a focus on preventing burnout, supporting mental health, and focusing on well-being.

This report from McKinsey and The Adecco Group gives some interesting insights into the pros and cons of a four-day workweek.

5 Traits of Gen Z in the Workplace

This article from Betterteam identified 5 traits that you often see with Gen Z workers:

  1. Preference for traditional communication

  2. Desire to work individually

  3. Mobile-first habits

  4. Motivated by stability

  5. Naturally competitive

As a millennial writing this, #1 and #4 surprise me. It will be interesting to see how organizations continue to enhance their workplace perks and benefits to appeal to different generations.
