I think the landscape of B2B sales is changing.

It’s getting really, really, really hard to gain traction via email.

And yet I think too many sellers are still relying on it.

Here are my thoughts on 4 different sales channels and how you can get started using LinkedIn more effectively.

Today’s Topic - 4 Sales Channels and How to Use LinkedIn Better

There are four main sales channels in B2B. For the sake of this exercise, let’s assume as a B2B seller you are trying to get the attention of an Executive.

I think the industry matters as far as these options go, but in general, these are my thoughts.

1. Cold Calling

It’s really hard, and most people hate it but it has an opportunity.

I also think you need to be very extroverted in order to be willing to put in the reps that this takes to be successful.

Less people are doing it and I think there’s an opportunity.

2. Email

It’s almost impossible to get interest at this point.

We all get INUNDATED with emails and it’s so hard to cut through the noise.

It has also become too easy to hit a button and send 10,000+ emails so Executives almost always ignore cold emails.

3. In-Person Events

This is always the best if at all possible.

You increase your ability to form a real connection based on trust when you can shake somebody’s hand and meet them in real life.

4. LinkedIn

This is the MOST underutilized tactic that people aren’t doing well.

Most people are nervous about 3 things:

a. Being judged for creating content

b. Not knowing what to share

c. Sounding like all the terrible mass blasted messages that others are sending

As far as LinkedIn for sales, I always recommend starting with 3 things:

1. Set your profile up for success

2. Post content 1x per week if you're just getting started

3. Comment thoughtfully on your prospect's posts
