How to get referrals using LinkedIn

This week I want to talk about how you can get referrals for your business.

As much as I love LinkedIn as a sales tool, there’s nothing better than referrals.

And so when you can combine using LinkedIn + referrals, that is a sales method I am a big believer in.

Let’s dive in.

Today’s Topic - How to get referrals from LinkedIn

Most people don’t know how to use LinkedIn for referrals.

Here’s what I recommend:

1. Go to your prospect’s page.

2. See who your mutual connections are.

3. If you have someone that you have you have a texting relationship skip to number 5.

4. Reach out to a mutual connection of that prospect that you haven’t talked to in a while to see how you can provide value for them.

5. Share a reason why you’d like to connect with that prospect with your mutual connection.

6. That reason CAN NOT be “I want to sell them my product/service.”

7. That reason should be, “We are putting together a free dinner for other execs like them and thought they’d want to join” or “I want to feature them in a white paper I’m writing about…”

8. I get a few of these a week but they’re almost always “I want to talk to them about my service.”

9. I never want to hurt that relationship by putting them into an immediate sales conversation.

10. And perhaps most importantly, script the message for them to send to that person.
