How to get more "lucky" in sales

6 quick ideas to implement

Welcome to The Revenue Generator

Hey there, it’s Harris!

Welcome to the Revenue Generator where we share 1 tactic each week that you can implement to help you generate more revenue.

Today, we’ll be diving into how you can increase your surface area for luck as a sales professional.

Today’s Topic - Increasing your Surface Area for Luck as a Sales Professional

I heard the term “surface area for luck” a few years ago and can’t stop thinking about it.

I define it as your chance of being lucky and how you can use effort to make that more likely.

In life, when people become successful, we often think “Wow that person ended up in the right place at the right time.”

And while there is some aspect of complete luck, I think most of the time that person manifests the “luck” to happen.

With that being said, I wanted to share 5 ideas that help you win more deals by being more “lucky.”

1. Meeting in-person

People buy from people.

The more opportunities you have to meet your ideal customer in person, the better opportunity you have to win the deal.

Zoom and virtual meetings are fine, but nothing beats the ability to meet a prospect in person to form that relationship.

2. Posting at least weekly on LinkedIn for at least 3 months

There is a huge benefit in your perspective buyer routinely seeing your name if you are creating valuable content.

They will reach out to you and “not remember why they thought of you.”

There’s a good chance they never like or comment on your post but they are constantly reminded of what you do if you show up consistently.

3. Always focus on providing value

Sales often get a bad reputation and usually for good reason.

Many salespeople are completely focused on closing the deal.

However, the best salespeople are focused on providing value for the other person and trusting that good things will come from that.

4. Helping someone with their health, wealth, or family

I can’t remember where I heard this, but it’s always stuck out to me.

If you help someone with their health, wealth, or family you will be able to build a strong relationship with them.

It becomes your job in sales to figure out how you can do that effectively.

5. Setting goals to meet new people every week or month

The most successful people in the world set relationship goals.

They are intentional about the people that they meet every week, month, and year.

Relationships are the key to success in business but so few of us set “relationship goals.”

There is a way to do this that is organically and naturally while also being targetted.

Get Started with LinkedIn

It’s overwhelming trying to figure out how to use LinkedIn effectively.

That’s why I created the below guide.

It gives you everything you need to set your profile up for success, send direct messages to your ideal client, and begin generating revenue from LinkedIn.

What I'm Recommending:

I often get asked by HR leaders if I have any recommendations for good staffing companies.

When it comes to hiring good engineering and product talent, these roles can be hard to find.

I highly recommend Quantum Search Partners and am happy to make an introduction if you are looking to fill these roles with strong professionals in a timely manner.

How we can work together:

  1. LinkedIn Agency for Executives - If you are an Executive or work with an Executive that you think could benefit from posting more on LinkedIn, I’d be happy to talk.

I’ve spent 2+ years understanding how the algorithm works and how you can generate more business opportunities and find new talent by being active and creating content.

  2. Use AI Effectively to Generate More Revenue - I’m in the process of creating an on-demand course on how you can use AI to sell more effectively. Send me a message if you’d like to be added to the list to receive access for you and/or your team!
