One of the most common questions I receive from Executives is, “Should I post personal things on LinkedIn?”

I usually hear pretty mixed opinions on this one.

As someone who spends many hours a day on LinkedIn helping Executives generate revenue from the platform, I wanted to share my thoughts more broadly.

Today’s Topic - Should You Create Personal Posts on LinkedIn?

It's a tough line of whether to share personal things on LinkedIn.

I'm a fan of it but I try to keep my personal content somewhat related to work.

I know others who hate it and say "Keep that for Facebook."

I do think people are getting more personal in general on LinkedIn though because business is becoming more personal.

Covid brought our coworkers and clients into our homes via video calls and I think that's made the working world more "personal."

My general rule that I go by is 1 personal post for every ~8 business-related posts.

I don't think there's a magic formula and I think it will bother some and others will like it.

If it helps you to connect with people and you are being genuine, I think it's a good idea to showcase who you really are.

He's taught me about myself, my work, and how I want to show up more than anything in my life.
