It’s hard to stick out in sales.
Most people take the easy way out and are doing AI mass messaging.
I don’t believe that works.
Today, I’ll share 5 types of messages that actually do work.
Today’s Topic - 5 Ideas for Direct Messages in Sales
We all receive those TERRIBLE LinkedIn direct messages.
And I'm convinced they never work.
So I wanted to share 5 ideas that work for direct messages.
But none of these can be done via mass messaging:
1. Provide a valuable resource
Don't just share a valuable resource with someone but do your research on why they'd find it valuable.
Google them, read their LinkedIn, or mention someone similar that found it helpful.
Then share the resource without any expectation.
2. Connect them to someone in your network
This is the most underutilized thing someone can do.
Who is this person's target market that you know?
Offering to introduce them to someone is a great way to make this cold connection warm
3. Mention in one sentence how you can help them
Nobody is reading long sales pitches.
I repeat, nobody is reading cold long sales pitches.
Be as concise as humanly possible in that first sentence if you can't do option 1 or 2 above.
4. Engage with their content and then message them about it
I know this one infers that they create content.
But, if they do, share a thoughtful response to what they took the time to put together.
This shows that you did your research and care about what they care about.
5. Make a personal connection to someone you both know
Again, this shows that you did your research.
You also want to make sure that you actually know the person you reference in case they message them.
All of these require spending time and doing research.
None of these are AI bots sending thousands of spam messages.
Personally, I don't believe in that type of outreach.
I'd rather send 10 thoughtful messages than 100 mass blasting.
