5 Lessons from Grandma

That I hope to pass down to my kids

Welcome to The Revenue Generator

Hey there, it’s Harris!

Welcome to the Revenue Generator where (normally) I share 1 tactic each week that you can implement to help you generate more revenue.

This week, it’ll be different. I’m going to get personal and share 5 lessons I learned from my Grandma.

Yesterday, we had the funeral for my Grandma at Arlington Cemetery on what would’ve been her 93rd birthday.

Grandma’s are amazing and mine was so special to me.

My goal in writing this is to potentially make you think and reminisce about all the amazing things about your own grandma.

If this resonates and you also had a special relationship with your grandma, I’d love to hear.

Send me a reply back with a lesson your Grandma passed down to you or a story from your relationship.

Today’s Topic - 5 Lessons from My Grandma

I put together 5 of what I call Grandma-isms and the lesson I’m taking from each.

Number 1 - Every time we got off the phone after our weekly Wednesday night call, my grandma would say to me, “Just take care of one another (when referring to myself and my wife), that’s the most important thing.”

The Lesson - You can’t have a good family if you don’t take care of your spouse. This is the most important thing. Grandma reiterated this every time we spoke.

Number 2 - A few years ago I interviewed my Grandma because I wanted a way to keep her stories. The thing she wanted most was for me to stay in touch with my cousins. Nothing made her happier than seeing that.

The Lesson - The best way to carry on her legacy is to stay close to my cousins and stay connected as a family.

Number 3 - My Grandma was always trying to give everything away to us in her house.

The Lesson - Family traditions matter, don’t forget where you came from.

Number 4 - Those who knew my grandma knew that she never held back from sharing exactly how she felt.

The Lesson - Tell people how you feel even if it might not be what they want to hear. I’m not very good at this and it often ends up hurting me in the long run.

Number 5 - With Grandma, we always got dessert and if there was something with dark chocolate, she was always in.

The Lesson - Life is too short not to eat the chocolate and not to celebrate.

It might sound weird when there was an age gap of ~60 years but grandma was one of my best friends.

She was my Wednesday night weekly call and our Sunday night dinner date.

My world feels less full without her.

She also believed in me as an entrepreneur when many others didn’t.

She’s my why for starting my own business and I’ll always remember her.

Thanks for reading and I hope this brings you to a special place reminiscing about your relationship with your own grandparent.
