12 Harsh Career Truths I've Noticed
That I wish I understood sooner

Welcome to The Revenue Generator
Hey there, it’s Harris!
Welcome to the Revenue Generator where I (usually) share 1 tactic each week that you can implement to help you generate more revenue.
I wanted to do something a bit different this week. This week’s content will be totally unrelated to generating revenue for your business.
I’ve been in the working world for about 11 years and while I don’t have everything figured out, there are some things that I’ve noticed to be true.
Check it out below and let me know what you think!

Today’s Topic - 12 Harsh Career Truths I’ve Noticed
Your network will outlast any job. Invest in it and don’t burn any bridges. You never know when you might need that person later on.
Consistency beats talent. The longer you work, the more likely you are to be successful at something. The best Executives seem to have the longest-staying person.
The best opportunities never get posted. They get handed to people who are already top of mind.
You’ll never have enough time. Make time for what truly matters, or it won’t happen. I’ve never been more “busy” with work and yet the most important thing is always my relationship with my wife and my kids.
“Busy” is just an excuse. If it matters, you’ll find time for it. And if a prospect says they are too busy, they probably just don’t care that much about your solution.
Most people won’t be as committed as you are—and that’s okay. You can’t make someone else’s ambition your burden.
You’re going to lose more than you win, and that’s okay. You can’t have the wins without the losses. The wins are also more enjoyable when you lose. [This is something I’m still not very good at].
People will underestimate you. Use it to your advantage. I continue to have this theory that athletes with unfinished business, or those who didn’t hit their peak, make the best entrepreneurs.
Start with providing services if you have an idea rather than building a technology. I learned this one the hard way.
Your resume will be ignored unless you know someone. Putting your resume in for a job without knowing anyone is pretty pointless.
You always want to be in rooms where you feel overmatched. This is the best way to grow.
You’ll never feel “ready.” So take that risk anyway.
Do any of these resonate with you?
What else would you add?
